Options assignment risk checklist

Write down the obligation and account consequences before holding a short option through expiration or a market-moving event.

1. Contract: underlying, type, strike, expiration, style, multiplier.
2. Obligation: deliver shares, purchase shares, or review another term.
3. Capacity: cash, shares, buying power, margin, liquidity.
4. Timing: notifications, cutoffs, settlement, after-hours movement.
5. Position: every leg and what happens if one is assigned.
6. Source: official documentation and review date.

Checking a box does not make a position appropriate; it makes assumptions visible.
